A Family-Run Nursery in the Heart of Bromsgrove

Home Farm is a small family-run day nursery set in an idyllic, rural location within two acres of private grounds.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality childcare where each child is nurtured to reach their full potential in a fun and exciting environment. We are registered with Ofsted to provide care for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Our staff are dedicated to providing a homely, relaxed environment for children to learn through positive play experiences. We inspire children to blossom as confident individuals by giving them encouragement and praise in an equal opportunities environment, recognising each child's individual needs.

Our Rooms

The nursery is divided into four separate rooms, each tailored to an age group. Large, light and airy spaces decorated with colourful displays of the children's art and craft work.

3–18/20 months

Daily routine tailored to each child's individual needs in a warm, nurturing baby room.

Squirrels

18/20 months – 2.5 years

Active toddlers exploring themed role-play, construction and messy creative play.

We believe outdoor play is vital to your child's development. Set within two acres of private garden, we offer a purpose-built, covered outdoor learning classroom — and children actively grow vegetables and explore our wild nature garden.

Home Farm has a team of experienced, qualified and caring staff dedicated to nurturing your child's unique character to ensure they reach their full potential.

Our nursery is staffed in accordance with Ofsted ratios:

0–2 years

1 staff member to 3 children

2–3 years

1 staff member to 4 / 5 children

3–5 years

1 staff member to 8 / 13 children

Your child will be allocated a key person who forms a particular bond with them and is responsible for their care and development. We pride ourselves on an exceptional staff turnover record — some staff have been with us since Home Farm opened in 1992!

Curriculum & Learning

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage — a comprehensive statutory framework setting standards for learning, development and care from birth to five.

Learning Through Play

We recognise the importance of play and the key role it has in shaping each child's development. Children are encouraged to have an active role in choosing which toys are set out within the rooms.

Planned learning opportunities are displayed in each room for parents to view, telling you the activities your child will be participating in. Activities are planned around the areas of learning, the children's ability and their needs.

Healthy Meals & Nutrition

Working with 5-a-day Catering to promote healthy eating.

We offer freshly cooked, healthy, balanced and nutritious meals on a 3-week menu rotation. 5-a-day Catering can cater for dietary requirements, allergies or food intolerance. There is an additional daily charge of £3.50 for lunch.

Safeguarding & Safety

The safety of the children attending Home Farm is of paramount importance to us, whilst also creating a home-from-home environment.

Controlled Access

Access is controlled by intercom at the main front door. The nursery office operates the door intercom — only staff open the door.

Password Collection

If someone else drops off or collects your child, they must provide a password chosen by parents on registration.

Visitor ID

Visitors are asked for identification and must sign in and out when visiting the premises.

DBS Checks

Before staff commence work at Home Farm, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is carried out.

Daily Register

Children are recorded on the register when they arrive and marked off when they leave.

Fire Safety

Staff are trained in fire evacuation and drills are held regularly to familiarise children with procedures.

Admission & Registration

Home Farm operates an open door policy — prospective parents may call to view the nursery and the manager or a member of the team will be happy to show you around.

Parental Responsibility

Declare who has parental responsibility of the child and if any person has legal contact with the child.

Fee Payment

Pay nursery fees by the 10th monthly. Invoices are issued on the first working day of each month.

£50 Registration Fee

Guarantees your child's place. For fully funded places this is refunded following 3 months of attendance.

Four Weeks Notice

If a place is no longer required or you wish to decrease hours, give four weeks notice in writing to the manager.

Humphrey the Home Farm Horse

Meet Humphrey the Home Farm Horse 🐴

Our very own Humphrey the Horse has lots of different outfits that he wears. You can find him in the hallway waiting to welcome the children into nursery each day.

Humphrey also likes to help reassure the children if they have concerns and he encourages them to talk individually or as a group about any worries they may have. For example, if a child has to go to the doctors, Humphrey has a doctor's outfit that he would put on to talk about it and alleviate some fears and anxieties.

Humphrey is a keen explorer and sometimes goes on holidays. When he returns he loves to share his adventures with the children.
